Cruise Ship's Steering Malfunctions, Injuring Dozens:

The new Crown Princess cruise liner Hamilton listed (nearly 45 degress according to passenger Ryan Slater) in a cruise ship accident in the Atlantic Ocean off Port Canveral Florida today.

Two persons were injured critically, ten persons were injured seriously, and another 30 or 40 persons experienced a range of injuries, but no deaths have been reported. The 114,000 ton ship is fairly new, launched just last month and the accident comes after a wave of bad publicity surrounding the cruise industry regarding disappearances, rapes, thefts and assaults.

Passengers said the water was dumped out of the ship's pool and it's swimmers were slammed against the glass. According to one passenger, Al Selmani,

"The ship was actually going to flip over all the way ... everybody was panicking, everybody was crying, chairs were falling everywhere. I mean, it looked like the ship was going down."

The company's US Headquarters are in California and Seattle. Injured passengers on the Hamilton must be aware that this accident will result in legal claims against the cruise liner's insurance company, and certain types of Maritime Law may apply here. Finding a firm experienced in this area of law will be helpful in navigating the process of making a claim.
