Aviation Lawsuit Settles for $1.1 Million to Date

The Haggard Law Firm has settled yet another aviation lawsuit, this time against Photolux. This is just the latest settlement of many over the past year for a total to date of almost $1.1 million.

It arises out of the June 14, 2002 plane crash near Osteen Florida of a Piper Malibu JetProp Conversion aircraft. The crash killed the pilot and his 2 passengers. The Haggard Law Firm represented an 86-year-old female who is survived by her son, age 61. This settlement is for his pain and suffering, grief and anguish over the loss of his mother. The plane crashed due to the fact that the pilot flew it into a level 4 storm despite having on board weather radar and because the pilot was flying too fast (cruise speed) through the areas of these storms when he should have been at maneuvering speed (a lot slower) so as not to overstress the airframe and cause it to fall apart. Sure enough, the right wing became detached due to overstress conditions at 26,000 feet and it plummeted to the ground in a death spiral.

June and July are known in the aviation community as thunderstorm months and weather is sure to be a factor affecting aviation, especially general aviation (small private planes) during these months.
